Apartment and Home Bed Bug Preparation and Information Sheet
Please read the following instructions carefully and follow them to ensure a proper bed bug treatment.
Failure to do so could result in a treatment that is not successful and could result in several call back
treatments. Customer cooperation is critical to the successful bed bug control.
Client Preparation Instructions
• Prepare for you and pets to be out of your unit at least 4-6 hours, if you have health issues or are
pregnant please consult your physician for advice. CPC can provide MSDS sheets if you have any
concerns.
• Do not move anything from room to room, bed bugs are easily transported and this can result in infesting other
rooms.
• Prior to treatment all bedding should be removed, laundered in hot water, and dried at high temperature.
Bedding should then be placed in sealed “new plastic bags” so that they can be placed back on the beds after
treatment.
• All closets, drawers, night stands etc. are required to be emptied and contents placed in sealed plastic bags.
The bags should be labeled identifying where the contents were removed from. After the treatment you will be
informed which dressers, closets, etc. had evidence of bed bugs so that the contents of those areas can be
treated. (Clothing will have to be placed in a dryer at high heat for 15-20 minutes if it was in an infested area)* if
there are concerns of clothing that may be infested and cannot be home laundered these should be dry
cleaned prior to the treatment, and not returned till after treatment.
• Furniture should be moved away from walls so that technician may access baseboard areas. (do not
remove anything from the room)
• All small electronics such as lamps, computers, alarm clocks, etc.. Should be unplugged to allow technician a
clear path to the perimeter of the room and access to all outlets.
• Thoroughly inspect anything you are taking with you when you are leaving the day of treatment. Bed bugs are
great “hitchhikers” and can be easily transported; you may have them in items such as carriages, diaper bags,
purses, backpacks etc. This could result in a re-introduction of bed bugs back to your unit when you return.
• Ensure all clutter has been cleaned up and carpets vacuumed. Vacuum cleaner bags should be disposed of.
• Advise technician of any concerns you may have of infested items.
It’s strongly recommended that…
• You have mattress encasements installed on all box springs and mattresses. Research has determined that
70% of most bed bug infestations are in these areas. Mattresses and box springs are very difficult to treat 100%
effectively unless an encasement is used. CPC can provide these to you at an additional cost.
• If taking laundry off site, do not use the same laundry bag to place clean laundry in use a new one as the old
one may have bed bugs.
• Do not wash base boards for 2 weeks after treatment
• You must follow all preparation instructions
Lack of customer cooperation will result in a failed treatment or may postpone your treatment.

CPC
Technician has the right to refuse treatment if unit(s) not adequately prepared
